Technically Competent Manager (TCM)
The Environmental Agency (EA) is tightening regulations to ensure that all waste facilities that require a permit to operate have a Technically Competent Manager (TCM) onsite for the agreed percentage of operational hours.
Failure to nominate a TCM in your quarterly waste returns will result in a non-compliance being issued to your site, which could mean increased fees to be paid to the EA, or in the worst-case scenario, an interruption to business.
The ideal situation is that waste sites have their own operators trained and certified in the CIWM(WAMITAB) qualifications... but what happens if you need to get started, or someone leaves, or gets sick?
